HIMSS Statement Death of HIMSS Staff Member - Marc Holland from HIMSS President and CEO H. Stephen Lieber, CAE
CHICAGO (April 18, 2011) - HIMSS Vice President Market Research Marc Holland died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 16, 2011, after a brief illness.
An information technology executive and industry analyst for more than 30 years, Holland brought his expertise in healthcare, banking, government and manufacturing to the Society. He was a long-time HIMSS member and also a senior member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.
Holland joined HIMSS on Dec. 20, 2010, and managed three areas: Data Collection and Quality, Product Management and Research. In his four months at HIMSS, he worked with HIMSS and HIMSS Analytics staff on numerous research projects and served as a media spokesperson on those research endeavors. Holland provided strategic direction for Organizational Services and managing the staff and activities related to collection and reporting of data for the HIMSS Analytics Database. He reported to HIMSS Executive Vice President, Organizational Services, John P. Hoyt, FACHE, FHIMSS.
His knowledge and dedication were obvious to all. Upon joining the HIMSS team, he let it be known how honored he was to be part of the organization. His fellow co-workers feel the same way about having worked with Marc during this short time. He will be missed by all of us at HIMSS and those who knew him in the industry.
