Bangkok Hospital Achieves HIMSS Analytics EMRAM Stage 6
Thailand – HIMSS is proud to announce that Bangkok Hospital has achieved Stage 6 on the HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption ModelSM (EMRAM).
A 287-bed facility, the hospital partnered Intersystems and implemented Trakcare as their Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system integrating with Medicomp's clinical documentation system and Smart ICU system from Precept Health. The on-site validation included visits to the following departments: Ward 6B, ICU-5, Inpatient Pharmacy Department and Radiology Department.
"The journey to adoption of Stage 6 EMRAM is important to improving patient care and enhanced patient safety and leads to the better healthcare analytics for driving the best service of the hospital," said Dr. Poramaporn Prasarttong-Osoth, CEO, Bangkok Hospital.
Dr. Somsak Wankijcharoen, CIO, Bangkok Hospital added, "We aim to transform healthcare by becoming a leading data-driven hospital. HIMSS Analytics EMRAM gave us a roadmap to achieve this goal. This is the approach to facilitate our world standard clinical services," Dr. Wankijcharoen, who led this transformation project, is also a head and neck cancer specialist.
With Bangkok Hospital's achievement, there are currently 30 acute care facilities in Asia Pacific at Stage 6 and four at Stage 7. This Award makes Bangkok Hospital the second healthcare institution in Thailand to achieve Stage 6.
"Bangkok Hospital is making great use of its information technology infrastructure to drive quality, safety, and efficiency improvements. They have integrated specific clinical decision support tools into the structured documentation templates for both nurses and physicians, and they are directly interfacing vitals monitors, ventilators, and infusion pumps into the electronic medical record," said John Daniels, Global Vice President, Healthcare, Advisory Services Group, HIMSS Analytics. Mr. Daniels carried out the on-site validation.
HIMSS Analytics developed the EMR Adoption Model in 2005 as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics® Database. Tracking their progress in completing eight stages (0-7), hospitals can review the implementation and utilization of information technology applications with the intent of reaching Stage 7, which represents an advanced electronic patient record environment.
Bangkok Hospital was established in 1972 as one of the first private hospitals in Thailand. Since then, the hospital has expanded its operations to become a tertiary care facility with dedicated hospitals for cancer and cardiology. Bangkok Hospital's continued dedication to specialized tertiary care is what sets it apart from its peers.
Bangkok Hospital will be recognized during the HIMSS Asia Pacific Awards Dinner Reception at the HIMSS Asia Pacific Conference and Exhibition 2016 (HIMSS AsiaPac16) taking place from 23 – 26 August at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, Bangkok. Bangkok Hospital will also be one of the hospital tour leaders at HIMSS AsiaPac16.
